Parks, Trails and Sports Fields

We maintain over 250 acres of beautiful parks, trails and green spaces at the geographical centre of the Niagara Region. They provide recreational space for sport, leisure and general enjoyment. Parks are available for use from dawn to dusk daily for everyone. Some of our more popular parks are the Mel-Swart Lake Gibson Conservation Park, the Battle of Beaverdams Park, and the DeCew House Heritage Park. Learn more about these parks by clicking Community Parks below.

We have also designed a park to reflect the Region's deep-rooted ties with First Nations. Visit our Indigenous Unity Garden which is a special place that brings together Indigenous peoples and the broader community to share teachings, stories, and traditional ways of working with the natural world. The garden, which is shaped like a turtle, serves as an inclusive outdoor classroom where people from all nations can come together in peace and harmony to reflect, renew, celebrate, learn, and discover through ongoing Indigenous teachings, interactive workshops, activities, and presentations that will help deepen a stronger understanding of Indigenous culture and tradition and their incredible global contributions.
