TAKE NOTICE that the Council of The Corporation of the City of Thorold will hold a Public Meeting to obtain public comments on proposed changes to the City of Thorold’s current building permit fees and is being held pursuant to Section 7 (6) of the Building Code Act, 1992.
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of The Corporation of the City of Thorold, at its meeting on April 21, 2026, passed By-law No. 22-2026 to amend Zoning By-law 60-2019 in accordance with Section 34 of the Planning Act, for the lands legally known as PT TWP PT LOT 138, Township of Thorold with consideration of all submissions made to Council before its decision.
Individuals interested in running in the 2026 municipal and school board elections can file their nomination papers from May 1 to Aug. 21, 2026. Nomination papers are available through the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing website or at municipal Clerk’s Offices.
The City of Thorold will host its third annual Earth Day event this Saturday April 25th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Canada Games Park, 2021 Canada Games Way. This free event is open to the public and offers something for all ages.
At Tuesday’s Special Council meeting, Thorold City Council approved the recommendations put forth in the Building Fee Study Report.
In consultation with the Niagara Home Builders Association (NHBA) the Building Fee Study Report was presented at a public meeting held during a special Council meeting on April 21, 2026. Council voted to receive the study and approve its recommendations, to delay implementation of the proposed fee schedule to November 1, 2026.
The City of Thorold is hosting a second Public Information Centre (PIC) to gather feedback from residents on the proposed design for the Development Services Office Parking Lot Extension to gather feedback from residents regarding the proposed parking lot expansion at the Development Services Office located at 8 Carleton Street South.
This construction project is currently out for tender, with award anticipated in mid-May 2026. Construction is expected to begin in June 2026, subject to approval and scheduling. Ahead of construction, you may notice condition surveys and photographs of the right-of-way.
The Mayors of Grimsby, Port Colborne, West Lincoln, Pelham, Thorold, Wainfleet, and the Lord Mayor of Niagara-on-the-Lake today welcomed the Province of Ontario's introduction of the Better Regional Governance Act, 2026, as an important step forward, while calling on the Province to ensure that the final legislation reflects the made-in-Niagara principles this coalition has championed since February.
The Council of the City of Thorold will consider the adoption of the 2026 Water and Sewer Budgets, at its Council meeting on April 14, 2026.
On Thursday, March 26, Niagara Regional Council voted to move forward with a comprehensive service delivery review. We know that the residents of Niagara deserve better than the status quo.
