Temporary Road Closures at Sullivan Ave and Towpath St. starting September 21
The Sullivan Avenue and Towpath Street intersection is scheduled to close on Monday, September 21 at 6:00 a.m. for approximately two weeks.
These temporary road closures will affect access to on-street parking near the intersection and Parking Lot 1 as the construction progresses along Sullivan Avenue. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Temporary Road Closure : Crompton Blvd starting September 9
To complete the work safely, Crompton Boulevard will be closed to through traffic from Richmond Street to the south end of Crompton Boulevard. Bolton Avenue will remain open to traffic through the Crompton Boulevard intersection. Richmond Street and Queen Street will also remain open.
The Sullivan Avenue and Towpath Street intersection is scheduled to close on Monday, September 21 at 6:00 a.m. for approximately two weeks. The contractor is replacing aging underground infrastructure and reconstructing the roadway within downtown Thorold.
The City of Thorold is hosting a Public Information Centre (PIC) to gather feedback from residents regarding the proposed improvements at McMillan Park.
Please be advised that the City’s retained contractor, Demar Construction, will be starting the Pamela Drive Watermain Replacement Project between Lawrence Drive and Sullivan Avenue in the coming weeks.
As part of this construction work, Pre-Con Inspection Services Inc. will first need to complete a pre-construction survey and inspection of residents’ properties to document the current condition of homes before construction begins.
Please be advised that construction is scheduled to begin on Crompton Boulevard on September 9, 2026. To complete the work safely, Crompton Boulevard will be closed to through traffic from Richmond Street to the south end of Crompton Boulevard while construction is underway.
The proposed park construction and amenities plans to provide a safe, inclusive play area with a fun water play area for residents, children, families, and individuals of all abilities, while enhancing the Port Robinson West history.
The City of Thorold is repurposing the Old Fire Station #1 located at 16 Towpath Street into a Museum & Cultural Centre with community gathering spaces and new exhibits on Thorold’s rich history. It is currently developing the interpretive approach, the exhibit design, and visitor experiences proposed for the main gallery space.

The City has identified and prioritized several locations within the urban road and pedestrian network as the highest-priority candidates for the annual Urban Roads Resurfacing Program. These locations were selected based on pavement condition assessments, safety requirements, pedestrian accessibility needs, and coordination with other capital works taking place throughout the urban area.
To support residents impacted by the recent flooding, flood related material or waste can be disposed of curbside from Monday, August 10, to Friday, August 14, on your regularly scheduled collection day, for properties located in the following urban areas. Please reference the maps.
