Temporary Road Closure : Barron Rd : October 7
Hydro One has temporarily closed down a section of Barron Road from Glover Road to Polloway Road on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. This is due to Hydro maintenance in the area.
Allanburg Bridge 11 Closure : October 13 to November 11
Temporary Road Closure : Sullivan Avenue : October 2
Sullivan Avenue from Towpath Street to Front Street temporarily closed on Friday, October 2 and will remain closed for approximately three weeks.
Temporary Road Closure : Crompton Blvd starting September 9
To complete the work safely, Crompton Boulevard will be closed to through traffic from Richmond Street to the south end of Crompton Boulevard. Bolton Avenue will remain open to traffic through the Crompton Boulevard intersection. Richmond Street and Queen Street will also remain open.
This construction project is currently out for tender, with award anticipated in mid-May 2026. Construction is expected to begin in June 2026, subject to approval and scheduling. Ahead of construction, you may notice condition surveys and photographs of the right-of-way.
The Council of the City of Thorold will consider the adoption of the 2026 Water and Sewer Budgets, at its Council meeting on April 14, 2026.
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Thorold intends to designate the following property at 3054 Orchard Hill Drive as being of cultural heritage value or interest under PART IV, Section 29 of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 2005, Chapter O.18.
A Zoning By-law Amendment Application has been submitted to rezone the Subject Lands, Phases 19-22, in the Rolling Meadows Secondary Plan area. In July 2023, the City approved revisions to the Draft Plan of Subdivision (previously phases 17-21), City File No. D12-04-2022, which was appealed by Hydro One Networks Inc. regarding encroachments into existing Hydro One easement lands. OLT Decisions 23-000765 and 23-001131 resulted in a revised draft plan dated May 22, 2025 and this Zoning By-law Amendment is required to implement those revisions.
Residents and stakeholders are hereby advised that the City of Thorold will be hosting a Public Information Centre (PIC #1) regarding the proposed construction of a new Splash Pad and Basketball Court at Merritt Meadows Park.
RE: Follow up to Joint Letter from Lower-Tier Municipalities of Niagara Region

On behalf of City Council and the residents of the City of Thorold, I am writing in response to recent correspondence from Regional Chair Bob Gale proposing amalgamation. This letter should be read in conjunction with the joint correspondence submitted by seven other Mayors, representing two-thirds of the municipalities within the Niagara Region, who share our opposition to forced amalgamation.

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of The Corporation of the City of Thorold, at its meeting on February 24th, 2026, approved the application for Draft Plan of Subdivision, Official Plan Amendment, and Zoning By-law Amendment for the lands known municipally as 13030 Lundy’s Lane (legally described as PT TWP LOT 89; PT TWP LOT 89 RP59R-4846 PART 1 PART 2; and PLAN TWP PT LOT 89 RP59R 9206 PART 2), Township of Thorold, with consideration of all oral and written submissions made to Council before its decision.
