The Building and Planning Divisions play a central role in managing growth and development across the city. This includes overseeing accessory residential units (ARUs), planning applications, site plan approvals, building permit applications, inspections and scheduling, occupancy permits, zoning matters, consent and minor variance applications, plans of subdivision, development charges, as well as accessory and temporary structures.
