Thorold Senior Awards

The City of Thorold, Age Friendly Committee and the Thorold Centre 50+ have partnered to recognize two seniors, one with the 2026 Thorold Senior of the Year Award and one with the 2026 Thorold Centre 50+ Senior of the Year Award.

The Awards will be presented on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Thorold Centre 50+ (formerly Thorold Seniors Centre) 8 Carleton St. S., Thorold at 11:30 a.m.

Eligibility Criteria

Thorold Senior of the Year Award

To be eligible for a Thorold Senior of the Year Award, the senior must meet the following criteria:

Be 60 years or older
Has contributed to the enrichment of the social, cultural or civic life of the Thorold community
Has made this commitment without thought of personal or financial gain
Is not a previous recipient of the award
A resident of the City of Thorold

Thorold Centre 50+ Senior of the Year

To be eligible for a Thorold Centre 50+ Senior of the Year, the senior must meet the following criteria:

Be 50 years or older
Has contributed to the enrichment of the social and cultural life at the Thorold Centre 50+ by volunteering and through other positive endeavours
Has made this commitment without thought of personal or financial gain
Is not a previous recipient of the award
Does not have to be a resident of the City of Thorold but must have been a member of the Thorold Centre 50+

Nominations

The nomination period opens March 2, 2026 and will remain open until May 1, 2026.

Nomination forms are available at City Hall or Thorold Centre 50+ and completed forms can be returned either in person or mailed to:

Seniors Awards Ceremony 2025

On Thursday, June 5, 2025 the Thorold Centre 50+ proudly hosted its Seniors Awards Ceremony. Mayor Terry Ugulini along with representatives from the offices of our MP and MPP, Regional and City Councillors, and City staff were in attendance to celebrate the occasion.

Brenda Bator and Leslie Daniels were recognized with certificates for their outstanding volunteer contributions, which have helped make the City of Thorold a more age-friendly community and the Thorold Centre 50+ a vibrant hub of activity.
