Lock 7 Viewing Centre opens on Mother's Day weekend. Check back here for the operating hours closer to May 2026.
Situated on top of the Niagara Escarpment, along the Welland Canal. At this location, you will find extraordinary views of the ships navigating Locks 4, 5, 6 and 7.
At the Lock 7 Viewing Centre our friendly, knowledgeable staff will greet you and answer any questions you have about the history of the Welland Canal, the City of Thorold and Niagara Region. They will guide you to our beautiful historical downtown area. Learn about our new City of Thorold walking and driving tours interactive map for your phone.
The Lock 7 Viewing Centre is coach friendly and wheelchair accessible. Water and washroom facilities are available. There are also bike racks for those active tourists riding on the trails or venturing into downtown Thorold.
Ship Viewing
Coordinate your stop at the Centre with the St. Lawrence Seaway schedule if you want to catch a ship go by in Lock 7. From the viewing deck, you can exchange waves with the ships' crew
Cycling
The Greater Niagara Circle Route is right at our doorstep! Explore the surroundings and take a ride into our cycle-friendly Downtown Heritage District.
