Media Release : The City of Thorold Turns 50

On July 1, 1975, Thorold was officially incorporated as a city. To mark this milestone, we’re excited to unveil a new logo to celebrate our 50th anniversary. The logo will be featured throughout various events and activities planned for the year, and we invite the community to join in the celebration.
Thorold is growing fast – and it’s easy to see why. Ranked as the 4th fastest-growing city in Ontario and the 8th in Canada, our city is full of energy and opportunity. With a vibrant, welcoming community, Thorold is an exciting place to live, work, and raise a family. Our council and staff are committed to ensuring it remains that way for years to come.
“For 50 years, the City of Thorold has grown and evolved into a hub of culture, education, and industry. This important milestone is a testament to those who have built, shaped, and strengthened our city for generations,” Mayor Terry Ugulini
"As we celebrate 50 years of Thorold becoming a city, we honour our rich history and the strong community that has shaped us. Looking ahead, we’re excited for the opportunities and progress that await, all while staying true to the spirit of unity and resilience that defines our future." Manoj Dilwaria, Chief Administrative Officer
We invite residents to participate in a video submission explaining “Why I love Thorold” and a photo submission depicting “Thorold, past and present”. This content will be shared on our website and social media leading up to the Canada Day celebrations. During these celebrations, we will display all of the photo submissions for our visitors at Battle of Beaverdams Park to enjoy. To learn more about how you can participate, please visit our website.
