The City's Urban Roads Resurfacing Program supports the reconstruction of urban roads throughout the city.
2024
Overview |
The City of Thorold is undertaking the 2024 Urban Roads Resurfacing Program on Queen Street North between St David Street West and Water Street, and of the parking lot of Thorold Fire Station 2, located at 701 Allanburg Road. The City has retained Niagara Concrete Forming and Finishing Ltd. to complete the work which is scheduled to commence the week of June 17th, 2024 at Fire Station 2, and the week of June 24th, 2024 at Queen Street North.
The scope of work includes traffic staging and control, site mobilization, sidewalk widening, curb replacement, asphalt milling, adjustment of maintenance holes and catch-basins, base repairs, tack coating, and placing of top surface asphalt course.
At Queen Street North, concrete curb replacement and sidewalk widening will be completed before roadway resurfacing begins. Concrete work will be staged where one side of Queen Street North will be completed before the side other begins. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times during construction and two lanes will be maintained at all times outside of regular working hours. For your safety, please be aware of construction equipment in the area during this time. |

2023
City of Thorold is undertaking the 2023 Urban Roads Resurfacing Program on Chapel Street between Clairmont Street to approximately 40 m south of Portland Street in the city of Thorold.
Overview |
In 2021, Chapel Street South was reconstructed up to base course between Clairmont Street to approximately 40m south of Portland Street. To complete the remaining portion of work for this project, the City, through its retained contractor Brennan Paving & Construction Ltd., has scheduled to commence construction in May 2023 to place top course asphalt within the project limits. The scope of work also includes traffic staging and control, site mobilization, adjustment of maintenance holes and catch-basins, tack coating and placing of top surface asphalt course. A pre-construction survey is scheduled to commence during the third week of May 2023. Actual construction is anticipated to be substantially completed within sixty (60) days. |

The City of Thorold paved various roadways, including Schmon Parkway, Nancy Court, Hayes Road, Grenville Court, and Colborne Street.
Overview |
The City of Thorold paved various roadways, including Schmon Parkway, Nancy Court, Hayes Road, Grenville Court, and Colborne Street. Work will include milling the existing road roadway, adjustments of any infrastructure and replacing with new top asphalt. During construction, residents will experience interruptions and residential driveways may be block for a short term, however notice will be given prior to being inconvenienced. Residents are asked to place garbage/recycling on typical pickup days prior to 7:00 am. The contract for this work has been awarded to Walkers Construction Limited from Niagara Falls, Ontario. Work is scheduled to start by June 27, 2022 During the course of this work you may experience short delays and disruptions to your routine. We ask and thank you in advance for your patience and co-operation during the construction period. Once construction begins, concerns can be addressed to the on-site Construction Inspector and Inspector, Adam Motchka.
