Dog Licenses
How to License Your Dog
If you own a dog in the City of Thorold, you must get a licence for them each year. Licences can be ordered online, over the phone, by mail, or in person.
It's the law. Don't get caught without a licence. The owner of an unlicensed pet can be fined up to $100.
It is our responsibility to provide a safe community for our citizens and their pets. Licensing plays an important role in our ability to fulfill this responsibility. A license allows animal control to identify your dog, get in touch with you, and make decisions that are in the best interest of your pet should it become lost or injured.
The Thorold dog licensing program is managed by DocuPet Inc. DocuPet provides a licensing solution that is simple and convenient, and includes added benefits for dog owners. You can license online in less than five minutes and will immediately gain access to your profile, which is used to reunite you with your dog in the event that they become lost. You will be in compliance as soon as you complete the form, and your dog tag will be sent in the mail within 8 to 10 business days.
You can license:
- Over the phone by calling DocuPet directly at 1-855-249-1370 *
- Over the phone by calling the City of Thorold at 905-227-6613 *
- In person (by appointment only) or by mail to: City of Thorold, 3540 Schmon Pkwy, Thorold, Ontario, L2V 4A7
