What is Zoning By-Law?A Zoning By-Law regulates the use of land and controls how each property in the city can be used. More specifically, it regulates:
NewsIn May 2019, council passed a New Comprehensive Zoning By-Law (60) 2019. The by-law is currently under appeal - it is unknown when LPAT will come to a decision. Status updateThe new Zoning By-Law is currently before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal. There has been a motion hearing set for Tuesday, September 22, 2020. Please visit the LPAT website for more information.
The new Zoning By-law will not come into effect until the tribunal resolves or scopes the appeals. In the meantime, applications are reviewed by applying the Comprehensive Zoning By-Law 2140 (97).
