Open Air Burning

Bonfires are Not Allowed

Open air burning is a violation of the Ontario Fire Code and is enforced in the City of Thorold.

Section 2.4.4.4 of the Ontario Fire Code states: "Open air burning shall not take place unless it has been approved, or unless such burning consists of a small, confined fire, that is used to cook food on a grill, barbecue or spit, commensurate with the type and quantity of food being cooked and supervised at all times."

Once the cooking is complete, the fire must be extinguished. For more information, please download the full By-Law below.
