The City celebrates Earth Day on Saturday, April 25
The City of Thorold will host its third annual Earth Day event this Saturday April 25th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Canada Games Park, 2021 Canada Games Way. This free event is open to the public and offers something for all ages.
The event will host over 30 vendors sharing information and selling their environmentally conscious products. We will also have two speakers at the event, Tami Lyons from Thorold Garden Club delivering an interactive presentation centered on Gardening with Children geared for families and younger audiences, as well as Jessi Nelson with a keynote providing an overview of the Niagara River Remedial Action Plan, tracing its history, major achievements since its inception, and the current status of restoration efforts.
The City of Thorold and Gauld Nurseries are partnering to give away 200 three foot saplings to visitors attending the event. Visit the City of Thorold booth upon arrival to pick up your timed voucher for a free tree sapling. Vouchers will have a time stamped on them in order to avoid large crowds while visitors pick up their tree from Gaulds Nurseries. Only one free tree sapling per household.
Thorold Garden Club will be giving away Red Oak seedlings to help encourage tree planting and support a greener future. Visitors can also pick up educational materials about gardening, tree care, and ways to support local ecosystems.
The Thorold Public Library and Thorold Community Activities Group will be hosting spring crafts and a planting activity from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the GFL Floor.
Additional event free parking is available across from the track in Brock Lot 2 as well as Brock Lot 1. Please click below for a parking map.
