Statement from the Mayor

After much reflection, I am announcing that I will not be seeking re-election in the upcoming Ontario Municipal Elections, on October 26, 2026.

It has been a true honour and privilege to serve the residents of the City of Thorold for the past 12 years, four years as a City Councillor and eight years as your Mayor. I am deeply grateful for the trust and support you have placed in me throughout this time.

I am proud of what we have accomplished together and optimistic about where we are headed. The City is going through a period of growth not only in the residential sector but also in the commercial/industrial sector. This bodes well for our future as we expand our tax base and bring in much-needed, good paying jobs, positioning Thorold for a strong and sustainable future. The internationally recognized Thorold Multimodal Hub is an excellent example of those successes.

We have successfully fought off amalgamation once again, but there is still much more work ahead. We remain committed to working with our municipal partners on important items like service delivery efficiencies and cost savings.

Working together with City Council and staff, we have made numerous achievements, while focusing on making the improvements our residents expect and doing it in a prudent, cost effective manner. I am confident this commitment will continue.

Although it’s time to turn the reins over, my only hope is that we continue down the path we are currently on. It is our time, the future of the City of Thorold is bright, let’s take advantage of this window of opportunity, deliver results for our residents and lead the way for Niagara.

Until the end of my term in November, I remain fully committed to serving our community and doing everything I can to move the City of Thorold forward. We are the “Hub of Niagara” and the best place to live, work and raise a family!
