City of Thorold Council approves the 2026 Budget

After last night’s Special Council meeting, Council has approved the 2026 operating and capital budgets.

The budget reflects a 3.49% net levy increase. For the average home valued at $281,100 (MPAC 2016 valuation date) this will mean an annual increase of $64.

The approved budget includes investments in major infrastructure projects, including the installation of new splash pads at Battle of Beaverdams and Merritt Meadows Parks; new playgrounds at Kottmeier Estates and Artisan Ridge; a new turf field at Rolling Meadows; renovations to the Allanburg Community Centre; the construction of Upper’s Lane from Barker Parkway to Townline Road; and the reconstruction of Bolton Avenue and Crompton Boulevard.

The major carry-forward projects include the Thorold Museum and Cultural Centre, a new mausoleum at Lakeview Cemetery, the reconstruction of Sullivan Avenue and Clairmont Drive from Ormond Street to Pine Street, and DeCew Road from Richmond Street to Beaverdams Road.
