Notice of Cyber Security Incident

This morning, the City of Thorold identified a cybersecurity incident involving certain systems within our network.

Upon discovery of the incident, we immediately activated our incident response procedures, engaged external cybersecurity specialists, and took steps to contain and investigate the matter. Our response actions included:

• Isolating affected systems and implementing containment measures.
• Engaging independent cybersecurity and forensic experts.
• Enhancing monitoring and security controls across our network.

We are also working closely with law enforcement and relevant regulatory authorities, as appropriate.

At this stage, the investigation remains ongoing. We are currently assessing the nature and scope of the incident, including whether any personal, confidential, or proprietary information may have been accessed, acquired, or affected.

We understand the seriousness of this situation and are committed to transparency. Protecting the information entrusted to us remains a top priority. As our investigation progresses, we will provide additional updates regarding the incident, its impact, and any recommended actions for affected parties.

At this time, residents and members of the public may experience potential disruption in services, which the City is working diligently to address.
