Significant Weather Event in Thorold
Road closures are currently in effect east of Ormond Street due to safety concerns.
Residents may also experience roaming power outages throughout Thorold.
Lakeview Cemetery and Thorold Community Pool are closed.
In the early hours of the morning, Thorold experienced a destructive storm with sheets of rain, hail, extreme lightening and high winds that knocked down several large trees causing power outages throughout the City.
Thorold Fire and Emergency Services, Public Works and Hydro One are aware of the situation and have been working together to remove fallen trees, reopen roads and get the power back up and running for the community. We ask for your patience during this emergency.
Please Take Caution!
- Avoid the area east of Ormond Street and follow all posted detours.
- Do not approach downed power lines—always assume they are live.
- Report hazards such as downed lines or debris to 911.
- Use caution when driving—intersections without power should be treated as four-way stops.
