Notice of Project Commencement: 2026 Urban Roads Resurfacing Program

The City has identified and prioritized several locations within the urban road and pedestrian network as the highest-priority candidates for the annual Urban Roads Resurfacing Program. These locations were selected based on pavement condition assessments, safety requirements, pedestrian accessibility needs, and coordination with other capital works taking place throughout the urban area.

Today, Wednesday, August 12, work begins on Kottmeier Road with line painting and speed hump installation. The contractor will then move to Port Robinson Road, where additional traffic-calming measures will be installed. Following this work, asphalt repairs will continue along the Welland Canal Trail, followed by repairs to the Thorold Arena parking lot and the pedestrian asphalt walkway at South Confederation Park.

Once these projects are complete, the contractor will proceed to West Street, where asphalt resurfacing will take place between Sullivan Avenue and Albert Street West. The completion of the West Street resurfacing will mark the conclusion of the 2026 Urban Roads Resurfacing Program.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as this work takes place. Residents are encouraged to use caution and follow all posted signage in and around active construction areas.
