Notice of PIC #2 : Museum & Cultural Centre Interpretation Plan and Exhibit Design
The City of Thorold is repurposing the Old Fire Station #1 located at 16 Towpath Street into a Museum & Cultural Centre with community gathering spaces and new exhibits on Thorold’s rich history. It is currently developing the interpretive approach, the exhibit design, and visitor experiences proposed for the main gallery space.
Staff is looking to gather feedback and reactions from Thorold residents on the interpretive plan and exhibit designs developed to date. Building upon feedback received at the first Public Information Centre, a preliminary interpretive approach with key messages, visitor outcomes, thematic sections have been developed. Also, conceptual layouts of the exhibits for the gallery has been designed with several key hands-on interactive moments.
Residents are invited to attend the upcoming Public Information Centre # 2 to review what has been developed and comment on whether this represents what they think is uniquely Thorold worth preserving for future generations, and if these are experiences which local families and tourists alike would like to have.
