Broderick Reconstruction Project Complete

On January 16, 2024, City Council approved Phase Two of the Broderick Road Reconstruction Project. Rankin Construction Inc. has now completed Phase Two of the Broderick Avenue Road Reconstruction between Westmount Avenue and Collier Road North.

Thank you to the Canada Community Building Fund (CCBF) who have contributed $1,397,000.00 towards the Broderick Avenue Reconstruction ($775,000.00 for Phase Two and $622,000.00 for Phase One). The total awarded amount of both phases of the project was $4,111,157.00 ($1,993,425.00 for Phase Two & $2,117,732.00 for Phase One).

The Canada Community-Building Fund is a federal infrastructure program that provides up-front, predictable, long-term funding to municipal governments for capital infrastructure investments. In Ontario, the Fund is administered by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario to 443 municipalities to help local governments address priority infrastructure needs that have real, tangible impacts on their communities.

Improvements included the replacement of the existing storm sewer, replacement of sidewalks and curbs and the installation of new roadway lighting. This project was completed a year ahead of schedule. The Broderick Road Reconstruction Project supports a major goal of the City of Thorold’s Strategic Plan: To build and sustain infrastructure that generates civic pride.
