Notice of Study Commencement : City-Wide Parking Master Plan

The Study

The City of Thorold has initiated a City-Wide Parking Master Plan Study (the ‘Master Plan’) to investigate the increasing demand for parking supply, taking into consideration the anticipated development, the City’s transportation and land use policies, and future needs of the City of Thorold. The objective of this study is to effectively manage parking requirements dealing the current issues, support the growing population, and ensure convenient and efficient parking solutions for residents and visitors alike.

The Master Plan will provide a set of recommendations and specific actionable strategies to address identified parking challenges and improve the overall parking situation in the Downtown and residential subdivisions. As a part of assessing the parking issues in residential subdivisions, three (3) residential subdivisions are selected for study purposes, and the analysis results/recommendations will be used in developing parking strategies in the Master Plan. The Study will also support and align with the established vision and objectives found in the City’s Transportation Master Plan.

Public Input
Public and stakeholder consultation will be vital in developing the Parking Master Plan. Two (2) public information centres and engagement sessions with targets stakeholders will be held during the course of the study to share information and receive feedback.

Details, including the date, time, and how to participate in each public information centre will be communicated in a subsequent notice, and posted on the project webpage at https://www.thorold.ca/en/city-hall/parking-master-plan.aspx. Also, as the study progresses and more information becomes available, it will be posted on the project webpage.
