CITY OF THOROLD, July 23, 2020 – The City of Thorold is pleased to announce that we will be entering the next step in the Pandemic Recovery Plan effective July 27, 2020. City Hall will be offering select services by appointment only Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The municipality has been planning for the resumption of services and welcoming the public back safely into the facility.

Although City Hall has been closed to the public, many City services have continued to be available since the State of Emergency was first declared. As technology becomes a bigger part of the new normal we anticipate that virtual means will continue for a number of functions.

Residents, businesses will have access to the following services in-person, by appointment only:
• Building permit, residential licensing and sign permit applications
• Marriage licences
• Business and lottery licences
• Commissioning of documents and affidavits
• Consent and minor variance applications
• Development applications
• Community Improvement Plan incentives

Residents who wish to make water, tax or any other payment are encouraged to sign up for preauthorized payments, utilize the drop box at City Hall (cheques only), online banking or through our website.

Individuals who have made an appointment to access services in person will see enhanced health and safety precautions. Everyone entering City Hall will be subject to COVID-19 screening questions, mandatory use of masks and a hand sanitizing station will be available. All meeting rooms will be wiped down and cleaned after each use. Permitting visitors in this manner ensures the health and safety of our community.

The City continues to follow the guidance of Niagara Regional Public Health Officials and Provincial Orders and reassess our services to ensure we are meeting the expectations of the community. As we progress and new services become available a future media release will be issued. With new protocols in place we appreciate everyone’s patience as we safely reopen City Hall and we encourage everyone to continue practicing physical distancing and following any procedures put in place to keep our municipal facilities safe for everyone.
