Idle Transmission Line Removal - Hydro One

Default Interior Banner

Hydro One Networks Inc. (Hydro One) is preparing to undertake the removal of the idle transmission line and infrastructure (towers) in between Centre Junction (Jct) located in the Town of Pelham and Cataract Jct located in the City of Thorold, in the Niagara Region.
The ideal transmission line is comprised of 47 towers, over approximately 6 kilometres. Work to remove the structures will be completed using heavy equipment, including cranes and helicopters. In some areas, the select removal of vegetation in advance will be required in order to achieve access.
Preliminary construction activities have begun in December 2019, and is followed by the tower and line removal work in January 2020. Hydro One anticipates that all work will be completed by the spring 2020, weather permitting.
Work will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. Work may be required outside of these hours at times. Hydro One crews will be required to stage and store vehicles and equipment in some areas, and residents may notice heavier traffic while work is ongoing. Traffic controls will be established where required, for the safety of pedestrians and motorists when large equipment is in use.
