The City of Thorold is hosting an open house with an official ribbon cutting at the new Fire Station located at 1600 McCleary Drive on October 4 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  All residents are welcome to attend.

This new 17,000 square foot facility will be more central to Thorold, catering to the rapid growth of the city and providing direct access to the highway.

“I would like to thank City Staff, and everyone involved in completing this major project on-time and within budget. Since ground breaking in August 2022, the project took two years to complete” says Manoj Dilwaria, Chief Administrative Officer. “In addition to becoming Thorold’s new fire headquarters, this station will also function as our Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).”

The fire station features a large meeting space with enhanced technology suited to operate an EOC. It also includes three truck bays, office space, a kitchen and living quarters for career staff, and a physical fitness area for all firefighters.

“We are thrilled to be in our new station, all the firefighters that work out of this station are extremely happy and thankful to all the people involved who made this happen.”,  says Fire Chief Terry Dixon. “We now have proper working conditions for all of our staff”
