Overview
The City of Thorold, and through their consultant Associated Engineering (Ont.) Ltd., initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for the road reconstruction of Broderick Avenue between Westmount Avenue and West Street.
The Class EA Study developed and evaluated a variety of road cross section improvements and replacement alternatives which considered the City’s Complete Streets design, active transportation accommodations and improvements to the geometric layout of the road, street lighting and overall aesthetics of the project area.

In accordance with the Municipal Engineers Association’s (MEA) Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, this study has been carried out as a Schedule B. The preferred roadway design option was selected, and a detailed design was completed by Associated Engineering. Accommodations were made to include initial comments received at a Public Information Centre held in February 2020. This project is about to progress to the construction stage, which is scheduled to commence in spring of 2023. |

The City of Thorold, in conjunction with its engineering consultant, Associated Engineering, held Public Information Centre #3 on April 27, 2023 seeking input from residents for the redesign of Phase 1 section of Broderick Avenue road reconstruction between Westmount Avenue and West Street. Following the third PIC, the City embarked on the redesign of Phase 1 Broderick Avenue, incorporating feedback from the public.
